Background and Credentials

I hold a Masters of Arts degree in Education and Psychology from Lesley College in Cambridge, Mass., and spent the first ten years of my professional life as a child therapist, working in a variety of mental health centers in the Boston area.

I am a Grief Counselor, working with individuals and groups who are grieving the loss of a person or pet in their lives. I completed The Professional Certificate Program in the Study of Grief and Loss at U.C. Berkeley’s Extension School, and am nationally board certified in Thanatology (CT), sponsored by the Association for Death Education and Counseling (ADEC). This certification demonstrates one’s expertise and involvement in the field of death, dying and bereavement. Currently, I am a member of: The Association for Pet Loss and Bereavement (APLB), and The American Academy of Bereavement (AAB).

I am a volunteer Grief Counselor at KARA, a nonprofit organization in Palo Alto, Ca. that provides compassionate support to those who are grieving the death of a loved one.  I was trained as a Volunteer Grief Counselor in their Adult Program, and counsel clients weekly to ease their emotional distress, and find ways to integrate their loss into their lives, in order to find renewed hope and healing.

For the past 19 years, I have been a Career Counselor, both in private practice and previously at The Career Action Center. I specialize in and have assisted thousands of individuals to identify meaningful work options, by motivating them to examine their authentic personal styles, and deepest interests and talents. Additionally, I help individual clients with issues of work-related losses, which can result in feelings of considerable pain and despair.
